Capitol insider.
Policy AI founder.
Building AI for government affairs. Grounded in a decade inside the rooms where policy is made.
To the AI that should power it.
A decade inside government showed me one thing over and over: the people doing the hardest work had the worst tools.
Born in Cambridge, England, as Laura Luise Carr. Educated at the University of Alabama. Started my career in Washington, D.C., serving in both the U.S. House and Senate. Moved into fundraising at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and No Labels.
Then Texas. I served in the Governor's Office, worked as Policy Director in the Texas Senate specializing in technology policy, and represented clients as a contract lobbyist with The Brannan Firm.
I realized I couldn't be in every room at once. Nobody had solved the core problem: policy work is slow, manual, and painful. The people doing the hardest work in government had the worst tools.
So my husband Eric and I co-founded USLege to fix it. We use AI to eliminate the inefficiencies, make legislation instantly accessible and actionable, and help professionals stay ahead of what matters most.
I'm a self-taught prompt engineer. Not because anyone told me to. Because the people doing the hardest work in government needed someone who could translate what AI can actually do into what they can actually use. Now I teach government leaders and government affairs teams how to use AI in practice, not in theory.
Capitol. to Code.
A decade in government. Now building the AI that should power it.
U.S. House. U.S. Senate. Governor's Office. Texas Senate. Lobbying firms. Laura didn't read about government. She worked there. That perspective is built into every product at USLege, every talk, and every line of code. The only people who can build the right AI for government affairs are the ones who've done the work themselves.
